Lotus Systems Receives Order From German Solar Cell Maker

Lotus Systems expects >€8 million in long-term orders from the German solar cell manufacturer for its fully automated wet chemical process line.

Staff -- PV Society, 8/5/2009

Lotus Systems has received an order for its fully automated wet chemical process line from a large German solar cell manufacturer. The two companies have also agreed to cooperate long term, and a total volume of >€8 million ($11.51M) is expected for the future.

Hans Hauger, Lotus Systems' new products manager, credited an innovative tool design for the win. "We have incorporated new details everywhere — in input and output stations, cleaning, etching and drying," he said. "All together, this makes for extremely high productivity and conserves substances like water, electricity and chemicals."

The first system will be installed in January 2010. "The photovoltaics industry needs new ideas to meet future quantity and cost demands," said Joachim Mink, founder and CEO of Lotus Systems. "Every factory is different."
