Spire Corp. (Bedford, Mass.) said it has delivered a PV module assembly line to Sova Power Ltd. (Durgapur, India). The semi-automated crystalline silicon (c-Si) module manufacturing line is capable of producing up to 12 MW of solar modules per year, and will integrate Spire's interconnect, lamination and testing machines, as well as intermediate tooling stations. Spire will supply the process technology and training to operate the factory.

The order "demonstrates how India is becoming a major player in the solar industry," said Spire CEO Roger Little. Sajal Das, CEO of Sova Power, said, "The solar market is expanding rapidly in India. We are confident that Spire's industry expertise positions us for success as we integrate solar manufacturing into our existing business."
