PV at SEMICON West

Photovoltaic manufacturing is an expanding part of SEMICON West and the co-located Intersolar North America exposition and conference. This year, Intersolar has nearly tripled in size, making it the fastest-growing business-to-business solar event in North America.

SEMI, San Jose -- PV Society, 6/11/2009

Growing interest in photovoltaic manufacturing is evident in the expansion of PV-related exhibits and content at SEMICON West and the co-located Intersolar North America exposition and conference. This year, Intersolar has nearly tripled in size, making it the fastest-growing business-to-business solar event in North America. Including exhibitors at SEMICON West featuring PV manufacturing technologies, visitors focused on PV will find hundreds of exhibits and more than a dozen technical and business programs highlighting the latest developments in PV.

PV programs and events at SEMICON West

The highlight of the PV program calendar at SEMICON West and Intersolar North America is the North American Photovoltaic Manufacturing Conference, presented by PV Group. All programs will be held at the San Francisco InterContinental Hotel:

Challenges in Crystalline Silicon Manufacturing
Monday, July 13, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

The Role of Public Policy in U.S. PV Market Development
Monday, July 13, 2 p.m.-6 p.m.

PV Equipment and Materials Manufacturing Outlook
Wednesday, July 15, 1:30 p.m.-6 p.m.

Challenges in Thin-Film Manufacturing
Thursday, July 16, 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

PV EHS Symposium
Thursday, July 16, 2 p.m.-6 p.m.

Other scheduled PV events at SEMICON West include PV materials and equipment market data presentations in the SEMI Theater (North Hall, lower lobby entrance) on Tuesday, July 14, featuring speakers from Linx Consulting, Young Market Research and Yole Développment.

In addition, on Wednesday, July 15, the FlexTech Alliance will present a short course, Leveraging Semiconductor and Display Manufacturing Technology for the Photovoltaic Industry, located at the San Francisco Marriott; and STG will offer a SEMI Standards workshop, SEMI PV Standards: Equipment Performance and Communication, at the San Francisco InterContinental Hotel. Registration and additional program information may be found at the SEMICON West website.

Additional PV-related programs will be held at Intersolar North America. More information on these events can be found at the Intersolar website.

SEMICON and Intersolar: What's the difference?

With PV-related technologies on display in both events, one question commonly asked is: What's the difference between SEMICON West and Intersolar North America?

SEMICON West remains focused on manufacturing technologies and services for microelectronics and related technologies, including semiconductors, MEMS, printed electronics, solid-state lighting and nanoelectronics, as well as photovoltaics. With a growing number of companies expanding their reach into new markets, including solar, SEMICON West is the venue for exhibitors and events that reach multiple industries. More than 100 SEMICON West exhibitors will showcase technologies for PV.

Intersolar North America is more broadly focused on the entire solar energy supply chain, including solar thermal, balance of systems, building and architectural services, as well as photovoltaic cell and module makers and suppliers.

Visitors specifically seeking PV manufacturing technologies will find products and solutions for PV at both SEMICON West and Intersolar North America.
